Presentation at the 9th SNAME Student Section Symposium

We are thrilled to share that the Department of Naval Architecture, Ocean and Marine Engineering (NAOME), University of Strathclyde participated at the 9th SNAME Student Section Symposium at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, on February 11, 2026.

Dr. Ahmed Elkafas had the opportunity to present recent developments of the Green Marine Project and the advancement of onboard carbon capture technologies for maritime applications. He addressed key practical considerations for onboard carbon capture demonstration and introduced an innovative AI-enabled digital twin framework which was developed to predict and optimise carbon capture performance based on ship operational profiles.

By leveraging onboard demonstration data as learning loops, this approach supports continuous improvement of carbon capture system design and operation, contributing to scalable and data-driven maritime decarbonisation.
