Both projects, funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe programme, share a common mission: to accelerate the decarbonisation of the maritime industry through innovative retrofitting solutions for existing fleets.

Since autumn 2025, we have held a series of collaborative workshops with the RETROFIT55 team, focusing on developing and expanding a comprehensive software catalogue of green maritime tools. The knowledge exchange and strategic alignment achieved during these sessions have been, and will continue to be, fundamental to our progress.

To mark the conclusion of this fantastic partnership, Prof. Iraklis Lazakis from the Department of Naval Architecture, Ocean and Marine Engineering, University of Strathclyde represented the Green Marine Project at the RETROFIT55 closing event, where he presented the highlights of our progress, including the shared challenges, unique opportunities, and the lasting impact of our joint efforts.

While the RETROFIT55 project may be concluding, the innovations and collaborations developed through this partnership will continue to drive the maritime transition forward.
